Contributing instructors
Your course already exists. Let it earn.
We are Blended Teaching, a textbook publisher for higher ed instructors who care about teaching. We build video textbooks from the way real instructors teach a course. Share the recordings, slides and test bank you already have, and earn up to 2% of every textbook built from them. Nothing to write, nothing to record.
One recording is enough to start. We ask for the rest later.
How it works
Four steps, and you make nothing new
- 1
Send us one lecture recording
Any recording of you teaching the course. One from the COVID years is fine. We will ask for the rest later.
- 2
We evaluate it
We look at what your course covers and tell you either way, yes or no. If we will not use your materials, we delete them.
- 3
We talk on Zoom and agree your rate
Before we use anything, we email you, hold a short call and agree your rate in writing.
- 4
We build the textbook and you are paid
We write the text, videos and questions ourselves. You earn a royalty on every version built from your materials.
What you earn
Up to 2% of net revenue, on every version
Your rate depends on what you share. It is agreed with you in writing after we evaluate your materials and before we use them, and it then applies to every version of the textbook built from them, for as long as that version is sold.
| What you share | Your rate |
|---|---|
| Recordings, slides and test bank | 2% |
| Recordings with slides or a test bank | 1.5% |
| Recordings only | 1% |
Recordings of the whole course are required. On a $125 textbook, 2% comes to about $2 for each student who buys it. The exact amount varies with the textbook's price and where the student buys it, but this is typical for our textbooks.
An example, not a promise
One contributor at the 2% rate, on two of our existing textbooks’ 2026 sales, would have earned about $4,000 to $6,000 for the year.
Paid twice a year, in September and February, by bank transfer. Students at your own university are left out by default, so you can tell them you do not profit from assigning the book. You can opt in at any time.
Your materials stay yours
We learn from them. We never republish them.
You keep ownership
Your recordings, slides and test bank stay yours. You are free to reuse, revise and publish them, with us or with anyone else.
We never republish them
We use your materials as source material only. We write our own text, record our own videos and write our own questions.
No AI training
We do not train AI models on your materials, and we only use AI providers whose terms forbid training on our inputs.
Featured items are credited to you
As we build the textbook, we may decide to use or closely adapt a specific item of yours, such as a spreadsheet model, a slide design or a worked example. When we do, we credit you beside it, and it shows in your account. It stays yours: we only hold a licence to use it, and your rate doesn't change.
Credit: every textbook built from your materials names you and your institution on its contributing instructors page, and says plainly that you provided the teaching materials and did not write or review the text.
