How we handle meeting recordings

Last updated: August 2026

What is captured

We record the audio of the call, a written transcript of it, and your video.

The shared screen is never recorded — in any meeting, whatever anyone has agreed to. If you present slides, a gradebook, an LMS tab or anything else, none of it is captured. Only the camera view and the audio.

Why we do it

So the team can act on what you told us without asking you to repeat it, and so product decisions trace back to something a real person actually said.

Who processes it

Blended Teaching staff. Zoom (the meeting platform), Mux (which stores the video with private playback) and our transcription provider act as processors under contract.

Recordings are never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared outside Blended Teaching.

What your agreement covers

Consent is per series, not per meeting. If we meet regularly, agreeing once covers the recurring call — we are not going to ask you again every week. Your agreement stands for 180 days, after which we ask again.

If we materially change what we capture, we ask again from scratch rather than leaning on what you agreed to here.

Students

If a student is present, the meeting is not recorded at all. Not recorded and then cleaned up afterwards — not recorded.

We do not claim to strip students out of a recording, because that claim would not be true: "the student who failed the midterm" identifies someone without naming them. Recording a meeting a student is in requires separate, scoped consent AND written authorisation from the institution, which an individual cannot give on the institution’s behalf. Without both, we refuse to record — and anything we cannot screen with confidence is held back rather than used.

How long we keep it

The transcript and the video are kept for 18 months from the date of the meeting, then deleted. Notes and themes we derive from them carry no names and are kept indefinitely.

Zoom’s own copy is moved to Zoom’s trash as soon as we have ingested it. Zoom keeps trashed recordings recoverable there for 30 days before they are gone from their side too.

How to withdraw it

Email help@blended-teaching.com. Withdrawal purges immediately: whatever we still hold is deleted regardless of how old it is, and we stop recording your meetings from that point on. Withdrawing is always free and never affects anything else about your account.
